It seems the like everyone is scrambling to get everything done before the holiday rush, and at Randal Retail Group, it’s been no different. Filling out year-end orders in restaurants and retail has been keeping us busy, and we’re looking forward to sitting down to that Thanksgiving turkey next week just like everyone else – but there’s still work to be done!
We’ve seen the restaurant and retail space continue to do well this year. For every store closing in the news, it seems like five more new locations are opening, especially for savvy retailers who have a keen eye for timing. Holiday sales seem to be up about 4-5% over last year, which is right in line with our country’s strong economic outlook.
According to the National Retail Federation, half of all shoppers have already started their holiday shopping, which could be due to the shorter holiday season this year. Matthew Shay, President and CEO of the NRF, says, “Thanksgiving is still a hallmark of the season, and there’s billions of dollars in shopping still to come. But many consumers have already been shopping for weeks, and retailers are increasingly adapting to that.”
At Randal Retail Group, the commercial interior, restaurant and fast casual side of our business has been strong with new clients this year. We’ve been busy with new restaurant clients and building out orders for tables, chairs, and booths. People still love the social aspects of spending time with friends and family, following up a day of shopping with relaxing at a local restaurant or fast casual eatery.
It doesn’t appear that people are going to stop eating out any time soon, though the changes in food ordering and delivery have made for interesting new developments in our world. We keep seeing more requests for dedicated carry-out areas and delivery kiosks that are all about making it easy for the consumer to get what they need – fast.
